Historic Preservation - The Lace Mill

Built in 1903, the US Lace Curtain Mill in Kingston, NY was a major employer throughout much of the 20th century. For the last 30 years, the building was a boarded-up storage facility. By 2013 it was basically abandoned. RUPCO, the region’s largest affordable housing services provider, purchased the building and retained AHC to refurbish it into a center of cultural activity, in addition to providing housing for the burgeoning arts community. The building includes residences, gallery spaces, and shared/private work studios. The project employed a variety of green building techniques, including thermal heating and cooling, solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and sustainable material sourcing.
